"NZACE will be the Champion of Co-operative Education - learning integrated with work - for the benefit of its members and the wider community of New Zealand".

NZACE is an independent, not-for-profit incorporated association. It is a membership-based organisation with an elected Council, who manage the affairs of the Association on a non-paid, voluntary basis.

The key aim of the organisation is to support and develop co-operative education as an educational strategy within the New Zealand community. The objectives of NZACE are to:

 
  • promote awareness of co-operative education as a benefit to employers, students, educational institutions and the community;

  • encourage participation by members of the groups involved in the development of co-operative programmes so that the best interests of all parties are served;

  • provide a forum for a frank and meaningful exchange of views between and amongst the parties;

  • provide an information exchange for co-operative education providers and potential providers; collate and direct inquiries concerning co-operative education;

  • seek to ensure that the government is aware of the value of co-operative education and that proper attention and support are paid to this in their policies;

  • initiate and support research projects designed to further the body of knowledge in the field, and arrange for the publication and dissemination of the findings;

  • establish and foster links with overseas bodies active in the field with regard to conferences, staff and student exchange, educational and operational information and other matters related to the development and delivery of co-operative education programmes;

  • disseminate guidelines for the effective and appropriate conduct of co-operative education programmes;

  • arrange and conduct conferences and workshops on co-operative education;

  • encourage the planned development of programmes which integrate appropriate periods of workplace-based and institution-based learning.
